1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard
---ON HOLD---
Your favorite candy man is back and boy do we have a treat for you!
Recently procured from the original owner who resides in South Africa this 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard - The Lerato Burst - which means "Song of my Soul" in Tswana native language of Botswana is a True Survivor.
This incredibly rare and all around epic instrument left Kalamazoo in 1958 as a Gold Top. The Owner stripped the top ages ago to expose the very evenly figured 3 piece top and shot it with clear nitro. The original gold finish remains in the pickup cavities. This 58 has survived almost completely in tact!
Plastics (rings, guard, knobs, truss cover, tuner tips, etc) electronics (harness, PAF's, wiring, etc) hardware (tuners, stop-tail, studs, bridge, buttons) she's all here. The switch plate & jack plate are a period correct replacements as are a few screws and the 5 latch cali girl case.
The Lerato remains unbroken, no neck shaving, no over sanding, no funny biz. The only other exception to the finish is it had a top mounted Bigsby ages ago, imo it only adds to the character of this piece. This 58 is incredibly balanced, has an undeniable vibe about her and feels great in the hand. Weighing an easy to manage 8 lbs 7oz and sporting a perfect 58 neck profile measuring .87 @ the 1st & .96 @ the 12th this monster absolutely competes with any PAF guitar of the era.
The PAF's remain completely original and untouched, no rewinds, no bent or removed covers (some solder touch up) and read 7.9 B & 7.5 N respectively. They are expressive, responsive & can get flat out nasty as one would expect out of grail era PAF's.
Don't snooze kids, unbroken 58's at this price point do NOT come around everyday.
